Kadıköy is a neighbourhood that sits next to the water on the Asian side of Istanbul, which means that most tourists don’t both going there. And that’s very good news for its fish market, which is much like London’s Borough Market but without the crowds and high prices that tourism brings. It’s open every day and everyday people do their shopping there. I went there for sea bass and got three for 25 Turkish Lira, which is about £8.50. And the fishmonger gave me a cup of tea as he was filleting them too. Result.
